Song Po-Po's Trial Questions

Song Po-Po: Rudy Uresti :

1. Did the Jiangs exploit you in any way?

They didn't exploit me, any of the work that was done around the house was by me. I treated everyone like they treated me...very kind and gentle.

2. Why didn't you stop working for the Jiangs even when you knew you knew it was "four olds"?

Because I just couldn't I had been adjusted to it for so long it was like a normal day thing (pg. 216) and also I just wanted to be around them. I even made a meal for Ji-Li's mother (pg 217). I just worried about them. They were like family.

3. Why did you help Ji-Li's grandma after she got slapped?

Well I felt like helping them because I worked for them for so long they are like family(pg 14-15). I felt like I needed to pay them back for what they had given me all of those years. I stayed down stairs so I was always close to them...my family.

4. Question: How did you feel when you got kicked out of the Jiangs house? Who's fault do you think it was?

Well I felt very sad it was like I was moving away from my family except I was never coming back. I ended up just stayed down stairs in my room and didn't move away so I could still be close to them. I blame Mao for me moving away because if he hadn't have came up with the, "NO FOUR OLDS" saying then I would have still been able to live with them and I wouldn't have been unemployed and without money.

Flex Day Response

3. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the top score, how would you rate the quality of the work environment you saw here, and why?

Answer: Well I would give the work environment a 7 because there were a lot of people and I don't think that there was enough room for the people. The people at the factory looked very crammed in. Also there was a lot of people that were wearing masks so they could breathe. That to me means that most of the people there were old and that there were few people that were young.

2 Reflections: I think that the trip was interesting because I have never been to a clothing factory before so it was fun and very informative.
Also I think that there shouldn't be that many people working there because there were hundreds of people crowded into one area so it would get annoying after a while.

Elliot's Expose

Blog response instructions:
• Answer the questions in complete sentences and use proper English (restrain from using MSN chat style of writing).
• Use evidence from the novel to support your answer and include page numbers.
• When commenting to your peers, be respectful in your language and about their responses. It is okay to disagree, but do it in a polite manner.

When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.

"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)

Blog Question:
What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)

Blog Answer: Well Elliot is trying to explain that they let this all go on and they could stop it if they wanted. Also he is explaining that he is ruining other peoples lives by letting this go on. He tells them on pages 91 through 93 about what the jock rots did to him and how he fought back and how they dropped him off a bridge onto his head. Also how they ran away after that.

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
3) Two Peer Comments (4 pts each)

1) Answer: Well because earlier like the day before Richie helped Russell by scaring away the Jock Rots and told Russell that he would be watching and make sure everything is fair like if it is 2 on 1 then Richie would help to keep things fair. He also said that Russell could ask him questions but he expressed that Russell should ask the right questions.

2) Answer: Well in the beginning Russell was afraid of Richie because Richie was bullying him bad and slowly Richie started to stop bullying him and now they are becoming kind of like friends because the time when Richie scared off the Jock Rots he said that he didn't mind Russell asking him questions.
